Stemming from the core values of the Kingsthorne Tree, children are encouraged to develop the following skills:
In Year 1 we are taught the responsibility of caring for our school, we spend the year working together as a team to look after the Key Stage 1 library.
In Year 2 we have the responsibility of caring for our school environment; in particular, the KS1 playground. We work as a team to keep it tidy.
In Year 3 we have been given the task of championing all things environmental; looking at the importance of caring for our local environment, as well as exploring wider environmental issues and pushing for change.
In Year 4 we are responsible for helping others. Throughout the year, our focus shifts so that we get the opportunity to support different people in different ways.
In Year 5 we are given the opportunity to become a play leader; we are trained to deliver high quality sporting activities to the rest of the school at lunchtimes.
In Year 6, we elect prefects to decide on whole school changes and improvements as well as taking on extra duties such as corridor monitors. We also link with younger classes to get their feedback on school life.
